The connected trackside network provides connectivity for trackside equipment, supporting train-to-ground connections as well as trackside control and operational systems. Belden’s portfolio includes trackside networking technologies such as RailTuff fibre optic cables, MIPP DIN rail boxes, XTD-2110-A MPLS-TP trackside nodes, BRS managed switches and BAT450 access points. These sit alongside networking solutions for trains, stations and the wider backbone network.

For rolling stock, Belden’s RailTuff Ethernet cables support 100 Mbps, 1 Gbps and 10 Gbps networks and are designed to meet key railway requirements including EN 50155 and EN 45545-2. Applications include passenger information, onboard signalling and video surveillance.

For mass transit operators and system designers, the result is an approach that considers connectivity across the entire rail system rather than as a series of isolated networks.
